MERCEDES BENZ - CLA CLASS

Mercedes CLA  - CLA180 & CLA200

The  CLA Coupe is a sportier-looking option for those who want something more stylish than the already futuristic Mercedes A-Class. The two cars share plenty of features inside and under the bonnet, though, and from the front, the two are hard to tell apart.

From the side, however, the Mercedes CLA Coupe looks more like a CLS that’s shrunk in the wash. The ground-hugging bumpers, angular brake lights and curved windows all look like they belong on something much bigger, and much more expensive.

On the inside, things look just as dramatic. No matter which one you go for you get a huge dual-screen infotainment system (as seen in the A-Class) and there’s plenty of ambient lighting which helps show off the brushed metal trims and gorgeous turbine-like air vents.

You also get Mercedes’ latest MBUX infotainment system as standard. Its party trick is its ability to offer augmented reality satellite navigation. It takes a live video feed from the camera on the CLA Coupe’s front bumper and overlays directions to help you take the right turning at confusing junctions.

AMG Line

AMG Line models come as standard with 18-inch alloy wheels, black contrasting exterior trim pieces, Mercedes branded brake callipers, lowered suspension and LED headlights. The interior features a leather-trimmed steering wheel, stainless steel pedals and AMG badging on the red-edged floor mats.

AMG Line PremiumPick an AMG Line Premium version of the Mercedes CL and you get key-less entry, a rear armrest and 64-colour ambient lighting and a 10.25-inch touchscreen instead of the 7-inch item in AMG Line cars. You also get a 10.25-inch digital driver's display alongside built-in sat nav and the 'Hey Mercedes' voice command system. Also standard are 18-inch alloy wheels, selectable driving modes, a reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, LED headlights and tinted windows. Dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, aluminium interior trim pieces and a wireless charging pad for your phone are also fitted as standard.
AMG Line Premium PlusHigh-spec AMG Line Premium Plus versions of the Mercedes CLA come with a panoramic glass roof, electrically adjustable front seats with memory and lumbar support functions, automatic LED headlights and what Mercedes calls the Energizing Package essentially a combination of mood lighting, music, climate control and seat massage functions designed to help you relax. You also get key less entry, a rear armrest, 64-colour ambient lighting and a pair of 10.25-inch infotainment screen with built-in sat nav and the 'Hey Mercedes' voice command system. Also standard are 18-inch alloy wheels, selectable driving modes, a reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, LED headlights and tinted windows. Dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, aluminium interior trim pieces and a wireless charging pad for your phone also come as standard.

MERCEDES - MAYBACH

Mercedes Maybach S-Class

The Mercedes
-Maybach S-Class makes no attempt to hide its origins. It looks almost exactly the same as the standard S-Class on the outside, which may appeal to rich customers that don’t want to draw attention like what they’d get in a Bentley Mulsanne or Rolls Royce Phantom.

From the driver’s seat, there is little to differentiate the Maybach from a regular S-Class, too. It shares the standard car’s large digital displays (one of which replaces the conventional instrument binnacle found in lesser vehicles), has acres of leather and wood, and sports the S-Class’ sporty circular air vents.

The Command control infotainment system is also present and correct, although – as almost every conceivable option comes as standard – there are many more menus to navigate through than in the regular car.

It’s only when you lower your well-heeled posterior into the rear passenger compartment that the extra expense of the Maybach really pays off. There’s extra legroom over the standard LWB S-Class and more headroom too. Buyers get a variety of leather, roof liners and trim finishes to choose from – all of which come as part of the price.

The only option available – ignoring paint finishes – is a First Class Cabin pack. It’s hard to imagine many owners not opting for it given the price of the car. It gets rid of the three-seat bench in the rear in favour of two individual chairs and adds a champagne fridge (integrated of course) complete with silver-plated flutes and temperature-controlled cup holders.

With a 500-litre capacity, the Maybach’s boot is 100 litres bigger than the standard S-Class’ but specifying the First Class Cabin option eats into capacity significantly thanks to the addition of the rear fridge.

MERCEDES -GLS

Mercedes GLS

With more and more people driving around in high-riding 4x4s, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to look down one’s nose at the general public from the back of large luxury saloons. The Mercedes  GLS solves this first-world problem – it’s gigantic in every way, and its maker is calling it the Mercedes S-Class of SUVs. Prepare your noses.

But just how gigantic is it? Well, the GLS is longer than it’s ever been, and more importantly, longer than a BMW X7 or full-size Range Rover. You also won’t mistake it for either of those, because it has a Mercedes badge the size of a dinner plate on its chrome grille between LED headlights and above large air intakes. At the side are huge alloy wheel options up to 23-inches, box wheelarches and illuminated running boards, while at the back, you’ll find a roof spoiler at the top, LED rear lights and some gaping exhaust openings.

Like Mercedes’ smaller GLE, the GLS has a more visually engaging design inside than a BMW X7, Audi Q7 or Range Rover . For starters, it has a huge one-piece screen for the instruments and infotainment flanked by two massive air vents. Below that sit four further squared vents set into wood or metal trim. It’s not all good news, though – some of the car’s switches feel too flimsy for a car at this price level and there are some cheaper-feeling plastics at the bottom of the dashboard and doors.

Still, Mercedes’ MBUX infotainment system is one of the best on sale. It’s also one of the coolest-looking infotainment systems around, with two huge screens merge together to form one wide wraparound display through which you control everything from the climate control to the built-in sat-nav. Bluetooth, DAB radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are all thrown in too. But, despite its flashy looks, Merc’s MBUX still isn’t quite as easy to follow menu-wise as an X7’s iDrive.

AMG Line

The Mercedes GLS  AMG Line comes with 22-inch alloy wheels, adaptive air suspension, sporty AMG bumpers, LED headlights, a panoramic glass roof and metal-effect running boards. Inside, you get seven electrically adjustable seats, 64-colour ambient lighting, a Nappa-leather sports steering wheel and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring on the dual-screen dashboard display. You also get Mercedes' latest voice-controlled MBUX infotainment system as standard, alongside wireless phone charging, a Burmester stereo, cruise control and plenty of driver assistance systems including lane-keeping assist and automatic emergency braking.

MERCEDES GLE

Mercedes GLE

The Mercedes GLE is the ideal car for you if you want an SUV that can carry seven in a large and luxurious cabin with the emphasis on comfort, not sportiness.

There is even a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 model that hits a whole lot harder than it looks – imagine Arnold Schwarzenegger in Kindergarten Cop and you’ll be close.

There’ll be no missing the Mercedes GLE in the company car park, that’s for sure. From its whopping front grille to its giant air intakes and 20-inch alloy wheels, everything looks suitably imposing. But it’s a shame you have to pay extra if you want it painted a colour that isn’t just black or white.

Thankfully, the Mercedes GLE’s interior isn’t such a monochrome affair. You get plenty of lovely brushed metal trims, shiny black plastics and gorgeous unvarnished wood inserts, which lend it a seriously classy air.

To help make sure all this wood and leather doesn’t make the Mercedes GLE feel like a stuffy old country club, it also comes with one of the coolest-looking infotainment systems around. Its two huge screens merge together to form one wide wraparound display through which you control everything from the climate control to the built-in sat-nav. Despite its flashy looks, it’s still not quite as easy to use as the BMW X5’s simpler iDrive system, though.

At least getting comfy in the Mercedes GLE won’t present any problems. The leather seats come with plenty of adjustment as standard and there’s room for seriously lofty drivers to get comfortable. It’s a similar story behind, but the cramped sixth and seventh seats – which come as standard in all but 300d or 350de PHEV cars – are only really big enough for kids.

AMG Line

The Mercedes GLE  AMG Line gets AMG body styling and 20-inch alloy wheels. The GLE also 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and 4MATIC all-wheel drive. Inside, you’ll find nappa leather and ambient lighting in 64 possible colors. You also get a leather steering wheel

MERCEDES - GLC

Mercedes GLC

The Mercedes GLC is an upmarket SUV with a quality interior and plenty of space inside. It’s similar to the BMW X3 and Audi Q5 – all three are upmarket and spacious, but like a posh handbag, they’re not exactly great value for money.

The GLC name hints that the SUV is of a similar size to the C-Class, and it shares a little with the way it looks too. The GLC is a bit more aggressive than the saloon, but you can see the family resemblance and both are smart-looking cars.

It’s even more similar inside as the interior of the GLC is just as luxurious and pleasant as the C-Class’. The soft-touch materials and tactile wood trims mean it’s a great place to spend time especially with the comfy leather seats.

The Mercedes GLC’s interior suffers from a rather poor infotainment set-up, though. The screen looks like an afterthought on the dash and while functionality is good, the interface looks dated and isn’t that easy to use.

There’s plenty of room inside, though, and even tall adults will have no trouble fitting in the back seats. It’s really roomy up front too, with plenty of storage around the cabin for your things. There’s a big boot as well, so whether it’s bikes, buggies or golf clubs you’re carrying there shouldn’t be any issue with space.

AMG Line

AMG Line models look even more aggressive than Sport models thanks to their larger 19-inch alloy wheels, revised bumpers and lowered suspension. They come with the same man-made heated leather seats with electrical adjustment as Sport models, alongside a touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation. New instruments, metal pedals and AMG-badged interior trims help it stand out from other Mercedes GLC cars in the range.

AMG Line Premium

Pick a Mercedes GLC  in AMG Line Premium guise and you get 20-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and extended side running boards along with the same sportier bumpers as AMG Line cars. Inside, you'll find aluminium pedal trims, a black fabric roof lining, AMG sports seats with faux leather trim, 64-colour customisable mood lighting and some classy un-varnished ash wood dashboard trim. You also get a wireless phone charging pad, a 12.3-inch digital driver's display and an upgraded infotainment system with smartphone mirroring for Apple and Android phones and an augmented-reality feature for the built-in sat-nav.

AMG Line Premium Plus

AMG Line Premium Plus versions of the  come with 20-Mercedes GLC inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a panoramic glass roof and extended side running boards along with the same sportier bumpers as AMG Line cars. Inside, you'll find aluminium pedal trims, a black fabric roof lining, AMG sports seats with memory functions and faux leather trim, 64-colour customisable mood lighting and some classy un-varnished ash wood dashboard trim. You also get a wireless phone charging pad, a 12.3-inch digital driver's display and an upgraded infotainment system with smartphone mirroring for Apple and Android phones, an augmented-reality feature for the built-in sat-nav and a beefier Burmester stereo system. Keyless-go is also fitted as standard.

AMG 43

Range-topping MERCEDES GLC AMG 43 models come with a turbocharged V6 engine producing 367hp. They also get 19-inch alloy wheels, sporty bumpers and black exterior trims alongside extended man-made leather interior trim, red seat belts, AMG-badged floor mats and a seven-inch infotainment display with satellite navigation, Bluetooth and DAB digital radio.

Engines available with 2L & 3L Petrol , 2L deisel , 2 hybrid

MERCEDES - GLB CLASS

Mercedes GLB -200

The Mercedes GLB is a family SUV with enough space inside for seven. It looks a little like the lovechild of Mercedes’ boxy brute the G-Class and its largest SUV the GLS, making the GLB come across as quite the little upstart with attitude.

Unlike the Land Rover discovery sport and skoda kodiaq , the Mercedes GLB is quite small for a seven-seater. But, there’s still enough space on its boxy body to pack plenty of chrome, loads of plastic faux-air vents and a whopping great front grille. Combined, these features make it look more like a baby GLS than an overblown hatchback.

It’s not just good-looking, though. The GLB is such a good car, it won the Best Family SUV in the 2021 carwow Car of the Year Awards.

Step inside, and you’ll be greeted by an equally posh-looking interior. The Mercedes GLB’s cabin looks a bit like it was drawn by someone copying the A-Class’ homework, but with enough changes to make sure they avoid getting put in design detention. The familiar five brushed-metal air vents look fantastic and most of the materials feel nice and yielding.

Unfortunately, the entry-level infotainment system lets the side down – you’ll definitely want to upgrade to the larger 10-inch screens instead of the standard car’s weedy 7-inch units.

You do at least get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring as standard, but it’s a shame that only top-spec cars come with electrically adjustable seats. There’s plenty of room in the front five seats for adults to get comfy, but the sixth and seventh seats are only big enough for kids and the Mercedes GLB’s boot can’t match that in a Discovery Sport or Skoda Kodiaq.

AMG Line

AMG Line cars get a number of sportier exterior details, such as larger, 19-inch alloy wheels, larger air intakes at the front, a redesigned grille, a chrome roof rack and chrome window trim, and high-performance LED headlights. Inside are front sports seats, a Nappa leather interior and steel sports pedals.

MERCEDES - GLA CLASS

Mercedes GLA

The Mercedes GLA is the smallest SUV in Merc’s range and is essentially an A-Class that’s a bit bigger, a bit more practical and gives you a better view out thanks to its higher driving position. It’s an alternative to the likes of the BMW X1 and Audi Q3.

When the first Mercedes GLA came out, jacked-up hatchbacks with a dash of off-road styling were viewed as a flash in the pan – a bit like fidget spinners or the Atkins diet. Turns out, these cars are here to stay.

But the latest Mercedes GLA commits more to the suburban SUV theme than before, so it’s 10cm taller than the old car and you can get it with massive 20-inch alloy wheels. Its gaping front grille is bigger than ever and the new LED headlights look super classy.

There are various vents and air diffusers on the car to give it a more sporty and off-road-ey vibe, but they’re fake and don’t do anything other than affect the car’s looks.

The Mercedes GLA’s interior has a very modern feel and the standout features are the twin infotainment displays like the ones you get in the Mercedes A-Class Hatchback. It’s a shame though that the screens in entry-level Sport models are quite small and miss out on Apple Car Play and Android Auto.

The system uses Mercedes’ latest MBUX software and it’s the best in the business. You can control it by using the touchscreen, a touch pad or by voice controls and you can even get an augmented reality sat-nav which overlays the directions on a live video feed from a camera above the car’s windscreen. Just the thing to help you navigate confusing roundabouts.

The digital experience is rounded off by the driver’s display screens behind the steering wheel instead of traditional analogue dials.

Overall, the interior quality is high, with nice materials on the dashboard and the doors. There are some scratchy, hard plastics a bit further down, however. It’s roomy too, with good seat- and steering-wheel adjustment for the driver, and passengers in the back will have a fair amount of space to get comfy.

Sport

Sport models come with the same man-made leather seats and smartphone mirroring for Apple and Android phones as SE cars but get a larger eight-inch infotainment display, rain-sensing wipers, 18-inch alloy wheels and dual-zone climate control. You also get a reversing camera and aluminium roof rails as standard.

AMG Line

AMG Line models combine sporty looks inspired by the high-performance GLA 45 models with affordable running costs. You get 19-inch alloy wheels, revised bumpers with metal trims, upgraded front brakes and sports seats with eye-catching red stitching alongside the same Apple and Android phone-compatible infotainment system as Sport models. Also standard are stainless steel pedal trims, a reversing camera, rain-sensing wipers and dual-zone climate control.

Exclusive Edition

The hybrid-only Exclusive Edition features a sporty-looking AMG bodykit, 19in wheels and privacy glass. The theme continues inside, with sports seats and steering wheel. There’s extra kit, too. Highlight is the 10.25in MBUX voice-controlled infotainment system with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. There’s a 7in digital instrument display, wireless charging pad, reversing camera and a system that automatically steers the car into a parking space.

AMG

High-performance GLA 45 models come with a 381hp turbocharged petrol engine, 19-inch alloy wheels, revised suspension, upgraded brakes, four exhaust tips and an aggressive bodykit as standard. Inside you’ll find red seat belts, more supportive sports seats, a new AMG-badged steering wheel and the same eight-inch infotainment display with sat nav and smartphone mirroring as White Art Edition models.

S

You’re wrapped in sports seats trimmed in Artico leather and grip a flat-bottomed steering wheel with a non-slip surface. Keyless entry and go is fitted as standard, as are 20-inch alloys with a 5-twin-spoke style. The exterior also features the AMG Night package, and the Parking package, with front and rear sensors and a rear-view camera, is fitted. The AMG Dynamic Select system lets you tailor the car’s behavior to your tastes.
